Sacred to the Native Americans and the Eastern Indians, amber has been used in the fire ceremonies of ancient tribal leaders and was burned in Medieval days as a fumigant and incense to clear the environment of negativity.  It cleanses the environment and is an excellent mineral for use in purifying birthing rooms.
